About Me

I fell in love with psychology at an early age.

I always knew I wanted to be in a helping profession, but was unsure which path to follow until an AP Psych class in high school. It was instant: I was hooked. It wasn't just Mrs. Young's amazing teaching, though. I had seen suffering in others and experienced it myself, and I knew that it didn't have to be a life sentence. In order for me to help others, though, I've had to help myself. Because of this, I am a firm believer in practicing all that I preach (or I won't suggest it to you). As such, I encourage mindfulness psychology, responsibility taking, and a kind and gentle view of yourself.

My ultimate goal as a therapist is to help you see that you are an amazing, capable, and loving human being.

The approach I take to accomplishing this has a few layers. To begin with, I use a contemplative, mindfulness-based focus to help you gain an awareness of your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, and how they contribute to the painful pattern you find yourself in. I try to help you see the opportunities you have to make choices that can impact your life and relationships. I also place a great deal of importance on understanding the neuroscience behind what is keeping you stuck, and target my therapeutic interventions to help you rewire your brain. I believe it is important to challenge you, poke holes in your unhelpful theories about who you are, and hold up an honest mirror. All of this is to help you see what I see: you, as you are, are enough. Once you let go of your insecurities, fears, hurt, disappointments, and attachments to how things should be...you can see it too.

As for my credentials, I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Addictions Counselor, and a Registered Play Therapist - Supervisor.

I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology (minor in Criminal Justice) before venturing off for my Master of Arts in Counseling. My love for the field could not be contained, so I completed a Post Graduate Certificate in Child and Adolescent Counseling as well. I have been in the mental health field for the last 10 years, working in a variety of settings both in the US and internationally. It has been my pleasure to work with such a diverse population- from youth in jail, young adults in The Kingdom of Bhutan, toddlers in outpatient, in-home with families, and more. In my off time, you would find me at the library, with my family (pup included) in our backyard, or doing my own work on a yoga mat or meditation cushion.

I'm here to help.

Whether struggling with a mental health issue or just looking for positive support, I've been honored by helping many children, youth, families, and couples find what they're looking for. Through all my experiences, the greatest lesson I've learned is that regardless of where we come from or who we are, we are all looking for the same thing: Happiness. I have a deep passion for the work I do and believe whole-heartedly in the power of humans to learn, grow, and blossom into their best selves. When we feel supported, seen, and understood by another person, our ability to understand and appreciate ourselves grows. This is where counseling comes in handy.
