About Me

Dr. Timothy Schlairet is a licensed clinical psychologist (PSY#004251), with an M.S. and Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology from Nova Southeastern University, with a concentration in Health Psychology. He graduated from The Ohio State University with a B.A. in Psychology and subsequently earned an M.S. in Experimental Psychology from Georgia Southern University. Dr. Schlairet completed his pre and post-doctoral internship and fellowship at the Orlando Veterans Affairs Medical Center, with his fellowship focusing on the treatment and assessment of trauma-related disorders. His treatment experiences also include relationship issues, psychosis, and personality disorders. Within Dr. Schlairet’s professional experiences, he has worked with diverse populations, varying treatment modalities, and clinical presentations in a variety of inpatient, outpatient, and medical settings, including clinical assessment and individual, couples, and group therapy.

Dr. Schlairet provides psychotherapy to couples and individual adult clients who are working toward decreasing their stress and finding more meaning within life. In addition, Dr. Schlairet conducts psychological assessments in order to obtain diagnostic clarity and better inform his and the client’s conceptualization of their presenting concerns. This can support access to necessary academic/workplace accommodations and enhance collaboration between healthcare professionals (i.e., psychiatrists, primary care providers, psychotherapists). Dr. Schlairet’s clinical work regularly utilizes an evidence-based approach, one that emphasizes the needs of the client above all else. Although his clinical work is generally informed by a cognitive-behavioral approach, he also utilizes existential and interpersonal therapies. In addition to issues related to life stress and general mental illness, Dr. Schairet also specializes in trauma work and men's health issues.

Dr. Schlairet believes personal growth seldom happens at a constant pace or in a linear fashion. Therapy should be accommodating to such growth, especially when life is unaccommodating. Being truly heard and understood by someone allows us to grow in the ways that we want and need. I will work with you to build a relationship that focuses on self-awareness, self-acceptance, and value-driven change. Please contact Dr. Schlairet with any further questions.
