Robert Poynter
While working from a mindfulness-based cognitive theoretical orientation, Mr. Poynter incorporates a variety of techniques and interventions that reflect the teachings and disciplines from Eastern and Western Philosophies while meeting the individual wherever they are in the moment. His holistic approach involves the mind-body connection, neuroscience, psychology, and how the mind and body are interrelated. He is trained and has experience with mindfulness-based stress response, neurobiology, guided imagery, cognitive behavioral therapy, and hypnotherapy. He assists individuals to "let go" of their automatic defenses and confront their inner struggles while guiding them towards understanding, self-acceptance, and self-compassion. He helps individuals gain more control of their lives while creating a safe and trusting environment for individuals to fully express themselves. Mr. Poynter's intuition and sensitivity to emotions have helped shape his empathic understanding of others. He is very gentle with his approach, yet direct when his intuition informs him.
