Miriam Zuroff

I received my clinical psychology PhD in 1999 from Long Island University after a rigorous, seven year clinical training program. . Post graduate school, I spent the first two years of my career working in a school setting conducting private therapy sessions for students and their parents while acting as an advocate for the students needs. I then began my private practice. My focus during the last eighteen years of private practice work has been seeing clients with issues of anxiety, depression and a sub specialty in post partum depression. A large portion of my clients are young adults who are trying to navigate life's choices seeking direction as they do. In the last ten years I have been doing a significant amount of couples work both for post marriage and for premarital counseling. I enjoy working with couples who are trying to resolve conflict in their relationships, communicate in a more healthy manner and feel more secure in their interaction with one another. I have had a lot of success in working and resolving issues for a significant number of couples.

My approach is an eclectic one, implementing different therapy modalities to fit the needs of the clients and the issues at hand. Therapy techniques can range from psycho dynamic, cognitive behavioral. object relations or solution focused approach, depending on the need.
I have a nurturing, warm, engaging personality which I believe helps my clients feel supported as soon as they walk through the door. I help my clients feel comfortable in the therapeutic setting whether it is their first experience with therapy or they have had many years of therapy. I use my creative nature to develop with my clients unique solutions to short term and long term problems. I pride myself on having helped hundreds of individual clients and couples feel understood and successful in working through the issues that brought them into therapy.

I offer online and face to face therapy. I only accept a few insurances but will offer a sliding scale fee when it is needed.
