Erika Shilling
Dr. Shilling provides individual, group and family therapy to children, adolescents, and adults with academic, motivational, behavioral, and emotional difficulties. Her specialties include utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to work with anxiety, obsessions and compulsions (OCD), depression, coping skills deficits, social skills deficits, substance abuse or dependence, attachment related difficulties, behavior modification, difficulties related to divorce or loss, low self-esteem, and trauma such as physical or sexual abuse.
Dr. Shilling has been working in the field of psychology since 1993. She has been providing individual, group and family therapy to children, adolescents, and adults with complex mental health and substance abuse issues. She’s provided treatment services in residential or inpatient, partial hospitalization, day treatment and outpatient settings. Dr. Shilling also, worked extensively within school systems providing consultation and clinical services. Dr. Shilling has experience working on multidisciplinary teams collaborating with physicians, school counselors, and other treatment providers. Dr. Shilling received her doctorate in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in Child and Family Psychology from Alliant International University in California. Her doctoral training focused on attachment theory, child development and play therapy, which has provided a strong foundation to work with individuals of all ages. Dr. Shilling is licensed by the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Clinical Psychologist.
