Help for Our Heroes: Transformations Treatment Center Launches New Website

veteran

The excellent Help For Our Heroes’ military veterans and first responders mental health and substance abuse treatment program, now has its own dedicated website at the Transformations Treatment Center.

What’s on Offer?

This new website provides uplifting alumni testimonials, important resource articles, facility and program information, and various other helpful pages for the US military and first responders population. War veteran and licensed therapist, Carlos Farina, is the founder of this incredible program. He has a genuine deep understanding of veteran’s and first responders needs in relation to mental health issues, not just from his time as a soldier, but also from his 30 year service as a law enforcement officer.

The Program’s History

Farina came up with the idea of Transformations back in 2013. At this time, he had just started collaborating with a small group of first responder clients, when he became involved in one to one and group therapy sessions.  Then, in 2014, something incredible happened: “Transformations formed a partnership with the United States Department of Veteran Affairs and began receiving military veteran clients which prompted Farina to create a program devoted to these brave men and women”.

With regard to the new dedicated website, Farino notes: “Having a website for the Help For Our Heroes program means there is a safe place for our brothers and sisters in the military and first responder professions to come and seek they help they so desperately need and deserve. Trauma, alcoholism, depression, and substance abuse impacts the entire family. Our program will give our heroes purpose, meaning, and the hope they will need in order to live joyful, productive lives with their families”.

The Main Goal

The main aim of this much needed program, is to help users move toward a healthy recovery, by working on achieving a strong foundation. A holistic approach is used, as opposed to just trying to dispel the addiction or co-occurring disorder, without looking at the root cause.  A spokesperson for Transformations notes: “This population is more susceptible to developing PTSD and trauma-related mental health issues which can have an enormous impact on a person’s overall health and well-being. We utilize Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing in order to alleviate the distress associated with traumatic memories by accessing and processing them to bring these memories to an adaptive resolution”. This form of innovative treatment only represents one of a broad spectrum of modalities which are employed by the Help For Our Heroes program. There is extensive information on each form of treatment, written in easy to understand layman’s terms, on the website.

No One Has to Suffer in Silence

To date, long before the website was thought of, hundreds of emergency personnel across the country have been treated. And as Farino says: “Veterans and first responders no longer have to suffer in silence, and by doing nothing, we remain a victim of our own dark world. There IS help, and we are here to help”. – Great words, indeed…
