The latest slogan is: “Digital Transformation: It Changes Everything, Even Your Mind” – The room for this transformation is certainly there, as the new digital age has brought with it exciting changes that can benefit us all in countless ways. Yet, one of the fields which has barely changed, is emotional wellness and behavioral health. The reason for this is that providers have hardly begun to leverage the phenomenal advantages of high tech to gain a broader reach, bump up patient participation, and achieve positive results, such as: generating more productivity, sleeping well, alleviating depression, and lowering stress .

In many ways, this digitalization has already started, with a certain amount of guidance on the internet, which often incorporates easy to follow infographics, etc. These are ideal for people who are feeling that their overall mental health is under strain, whether it is be work, at home, or in both situations. And it is easy to access via a mobile phone, any time, any where.

Attaining Optimum Mental Health

When we are faced with a negative situation, the way that we feel frequently has: a knock-on effect on our overall mental health; our means to efficiently carry out our daily activities; and our relationships with our partner, family, friends and work colleagues. It is however, important to understand that how we respond to our experiences and our feelings, is not always the same. When we are mindful of this flexible response pattern, it can make us feel more positive about our own personal situations that are bringing us down. Ultimately, the idea is to achieve an optimum state of mind, so that our emotional wellness empowers us to tackle the stresses and strains that life throws at us, head on, thereby allowing us to adjust to challenging times and changes [2].

Experts tell us that, individuals who are emotionally well: suffer from less negative feelings, are more resilient; and have the strength to recover from difficulties quicker. Moreover, they are able to appreciate good times, and can grasp onto positive emotions for longer.

When our stress levels becomes chronic, the “high-alert” changes that our bodies experience, are harmful. This is one reason why we should practice  a variety of healthy ways to de-stress, and bolster our resilience.

Practising Mindfulness

The cornerstone of mindfulness, means being totally aware of what is going on in the present: that is to say, both internally and externally. Far too many of us live our lives on “auto-pilot,” and this makes us weak. If we start to practice mindfulness, we will see positive changes almost immediately .
